  • Readiness Check is a free interactive tool to help parents understand their children’s strengths and to identify what support they may need with grade-level skills. Visit Be a Learning Hero for the Readiness Check in both English and Spanish.

  • With the Readiness Check, your child answers 3-5 questions in math and reading. At the end, there are fun, free activities and resources you can use to help your child at home.

  • Share your child’s Readiness Check results with your child’s new teacher to get support right from the start and help your child succeed in school.

  • According to national research, 90% of parents say their child is achieving at or above grade level in math and reading. Yet, only 39% of teachers say students start the school year prepared for grade-level work.

  • You are the expert on your child and can help make learning exciting! Read together about topics that interest your child. Find math in everyday life and turn it into a game.

  • Strengths such as communication, problem-solving, and confidence will help your children in school and life. Talk with your children about their feelings and how to handle new and difficult situations.
