Project Description

This is an entry-level opportunity to learn about television production, program administration and development through observation and working with an award-winning production team. An intern will work behind the scenes of public television’s GREAT PERFORMANCES, NYC-ARTS and REEL 13 programs, assisting staff in administration, research, and production work.

Description of Duties

An intern is needed at Thirteen/WNET to support the Emmy Award-winning PBS series GREAT PERFORMANCES and WNET`s local NYC-ARTS and REEL 13 programs in all aspects of production. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain first-hand experience working within a television production unit. This position is unpaid, however college credit is available.

Responsibilities include: research, transcription, screening tapes, photo/film licensing, archiving and filing, and tape duplication. There will also be opportunities for involvement in the production and post-production processes, assisting with local shoots and observing edits and recording sessions.

Candidates should have a strong interest in television production and the arts, preferably with broadcasting production or office experience. Strong writing and research skills are required. Basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro is a major plus.  Interns should be detail-oriented, able to work independently and have a positive attitude. Availability to work a minimum of three 8-hour days per week strongly preferred.
