Great Performances/NYC Arts

Great Performances

The Department:

The Great Performances production unit is the “umbrella” for several series at THIRTEEN, PBS’s flagship station.  We’re seeking Production Interns to provide support to the producers of Great Performances, our award winning, national performing arts series now in its 46th Season; NYC-ARTS, our local, weekly series, highlighting the performing and fine arts scene in the tri-state area, now in its tenth season; REEL 13 – a local, weekly film series, promoting classic and independent films and featuring a weekly shorts competition; and THEATER CLOSE-UP, our local series, which celebrates the world of Off-Broadway plays, now in its fourth season.

Description of Duties:

The Production Intern will be involved in a wide variety of production and administrative duties including, but not limited to research, transcription, screening shorts submissions, photo/film licensing, writing blog posts, organizing and preparing production materials.  By preparing for and assisting on local shoots at leading arts institutions, our intern will have the opportunity of working with our producers on a one-to-one basis.

Student’s Accountability:

As an integral part of our production team, we count on our interns to be reliable, punctual, detail oriented, and able to multi-task.  Being a good team player is essential as well as the ability to work well on your own, when necessary. A minimum of 16 hours per week is required.

Skills:

Our ideal candidate will possess an interest in production but also a strong interest in the performing and fine arts. There will be opportunities to attend tapings at major NYC museums and galleries, Broadway and Off-Broadway theaters as well as historic homes and sites in the tri-state area.   In addition to being detail oriented and having the ability to prioritize, excellent communication skills (written and oral), computer proficiency are required.

Opportunity Profile:

Interns have an up-close opportunity to observe and participate in many aspects of pre and post-production of large and small scale, local and national television productions.  Our priority is for the overall experience to be an excellent learning opportunity for our intern.
