WNET & The Schomburg Center Present “Boss” Panel & Highlights

WNET partnered with the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture to celebrate Boss: The Black Experience in Business with an event featuring highlights from the film and a panel discussion moderated by the Schomburg’s director, Kevin Young. The Schomburg Center and WNET’s Vice President of Programming Stephen Segaller delivered opening remarks to a crowd of more than 200 guests.

Lesley Norman, Executive Producer of Boss, provided an overview of the new two-hour documentary that explores the story of resilience and resistance within the black American experience in the face of racial hostility and violence, economic exclusion, segregation and discrimination. Guests enjoyed excerpts from the film followed by a conversation about the impact of historical African American entrepreneurship and the future of black business.

You can watch the panel discussion with Julieanna Richardson, Boss Co-Executive Producer; Stanley Nelson, Director; and, from the film, Marcia Chatelain, History Professor, Georgetown; and Richelieu Dennis, Founder & CEO of Sundial Brands and Founder & Chair, Essence Ventures.
