WNET Brings PBS KIDS to Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey

WNET has partnered with Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey to bring PBS KIDS resources to the children and families in the Pediatric Emergency Room.

The Emergency Department will now provide materials including WNET’s bilingual Oh Noah! Family Guides, PBS KIDS’s “Summer Activity Workbooks,” and books to the young children to read and complete with their parents as they wait for test results and consultations with doctors.

Thomas & Friends_How Do You Feel PosterAdditionally, they will receive the new Thomas & Friends, “How Do You Feel?” posters (at right) designed for the recently launched autism collection on PBS LearningMedia. Caitlin Ridge, a Child Life Specialist at the hospital, stated, “I am always coming up with crafty ideas to help smaller patients express their emotions or pain and cannot wait to incorporate everyone’s favorite little engine in these interventions!”

Televisions in the waiting rooms will air NJTV during the children’s programming block in the morning and afternoon.

The resources are already making an impact, as expressed by Ridge: “Thank you again for supporting our pediatric emergency department. The activity books are already helping to make smiles during difficult situations!”

This partnership builds on the strong relationship between NJTV and Barnabas Health. Recently the Barnabas Health Pantry was named at the Agnes Varis NJTV Studio in Newark.
