The WNET Group Picks Up 10 News & Documentary Emmy Award Nominations

Today, nominees for the 42nd News & Documentary Emmy Awards were announced. The WNET Group picked up 10 nominations:

  • American Masters — Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool was nominated for “Outstanding Arts and Culture Documentary” and “Outstanding Sound.”
  • Nature: Cuba’s Wild Revolution was nominated in the “Outstanding Nature Documentary” and “Outstanding Cinematography: Documentary,” and “Outstanding Sound” categories.
  • Great Performances — Now Hear This: The Schubert Generation was nominated in the “Outstanding Sound” category.
  • Nature‘s three-part series Primates was nominated for “Outstanding Music Composition.”
  • Frontline: Policing the Police 2020, created in partnership with The WNET Group’s Chasing the Dream initiative, was nominated for “Outstanding Writing: Documentary.”
  • PBS NewsHour Weekend contributed segments to Desperate Journey and Inside Venezuela, both nominated in the “Outstanding Continuing Coverage of a News Story in a Newscast” category.

Overall, PBS led the field with 52 nominations.

Awards in the News categories will be announced on September 28, 2021. Awards in the Documentary categories will be announced on September 29, 2021.

The 42nd Annual News & Documentary Emmy® Awards honor programming content from more than 2,200 submissions that originally premiered in calendar-year 2020, judged by a pool of 800+ peer professionals from across the television and streaming/digital media News & Documentary industry.
