“Mission US: Up from the Dust” iOS App Wins Parents’ Choice Award

Parents’ Choice selected Mission US: Up from the Dust as a Gold winner of the 2018 Parents’ Choice Awards in the “Mobile Apps” category.

The first mobile tablet application in the Mission US series of free, digital role-playing games, Up from the Dust launched last April. The game engages players to step into the roles of Ginny and Frank Dunn, teen twins supporting their family during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. Parents’ Choice notes how, “game play is compelling; we couldn’t put it down the first time through…This is a free app, but it is worth more than many full-price games on the market.”

Designed for use by students in grades 5-9, the Mission US games have nearly 2.1 million registered users in all fifty states, including more than 77,000 teachers. As with other games in the series, Up from the Dust includes a collection of educator-developed resources, including primary sources, class activities, vocabulary builders, standards alignments, and writing prompts.

The application is available for free on iPad through the iTunes App Store.
