Meet Peter Fulton

As an Accounts Payable Coordinator in the Finance Department, Peter Fulton processes invoices and make sure that WNET’s supplier accounts are up to date. “In other words, I pay the bills!” he says. Read on to learn about the public media programs on Peter’s must-watch list, his favorite places in Bay Ridge, and more.

What is your background, and how did you land at WNET?

I have worked in Accounts Payable at various companies for the past 15 years. My early A/P experience was in the apparel/fashion industry, before I transitioned to the non-profit world. I came to WNET directly from the New York Public Library. I have a BFA in Theater Studies from Southern Methodist University, and I was a musical theatre performer in my past life.

For our Media with Impact campaign, we’ve been asking viewers to share stories describing how THIRTEEN has influenced their life. How has THIRTEEN (or the PBS station of your childhood) inspired you?

As a rabid Broadway fan growing up 3,000 miles from NYC, Great Performances was an invaluable window into the world of New York theater, and the arts and culture in general. I watched all arts programming available on KPBS, our local San Diego PBS station.

Which three shows airing on our stations this month are you most likely to watch, stream, or record?

I hope to have time to watch several upcoming Theater Close-Up presentations, and I’m trying to get my children interested in Nature and NOVA — but there is a lot of competition for their attention right now.

Where do you live, and what are some of your favorite places in your neighborhood?

I live in Bay Ridge, in Southwestern Brooklyn, at the end of the R Line. It’s a fairly quiet and low-key neighborhood for being in New York, and a great place to raise our three young kids. There are some pretty spectacular views of New York harbor, Staten Island and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge from Shore Road Park, where we spend a lot of time due to the kids’ sports/activities/birthday parties that take up most of our weekends.

What book are you currently reading?

Washington Black by Esi Edugyan.

Do you have a special interest or hobby outside of work? If so, tell us about it!

Did I mention that we have three young children in the house??? Before becoming a parent, I used to enjoy theater, film, the outdoors. I look forward to getting back to my interests someday!
