Meet Our Summer 2019 Interns, Part 2

Welcome to the second installment of WNET’s 2019 Summer Intern Spotlights. We asked our interns to tell us a bit about their backgrounds, their work at WNET, and, in celebration of the Summer of ’69 specials, their favorite concert experiences.  We hope you enjoy learning about our wonderful interns in these interviews conducted by Gabriella Vetrano, the Marketing and Audience Engagement Department’s summer intern.

Back Row (L-R) Alexander Clementi, Silver Zhang, Michael Denton; Middle Row (L-R) Sarah Baker, Abby Brown, Mirish Shah, Arturo Ruiz; Front Row (L-R) Shelby Klein, Janey Woo, Kristina Prysyazhnyuk-Goncu

Abby Brown is from Armonk, New York, and is currently attending Cardozo Law after majoring in Communications at Cornell University. She is currently an intern for the WNET Legal Department. Abby says she is most like Lorlei Gilmore from Gilmore Girls because they’re both strong, witty, and drink way too much coffee.

Sarah Baker is from Calvert County, Maryland, and is a rising senior at Elon University in North Carolina. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Music Production & Recording Arts and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music in the Liberal Arts. She is working with the Music Services Department and says her favorite concert was Fleetwood Mac, Halloween of 2014. She says going to see the band live with all of its members was an amazing experience for her and her parents.

Alexander Clementi grew up in Princeton, Massachusetts, and is attending Brooklyn Law School following his graduation from Dartmouth College in 2009 and an eight-year stint as a chef. He is an intern in the Legal Department and his favorite concert was Radiohead at Madison Square Garden. They had been on his bucket-list, and he finally saw them live. They did not disappoint!

Michael Denton is from San Antonio, Texas, and is in his third year of law school at the University Of Virginia School Of Law. He is an intern in the Legal Department and is most like Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. He identifies with that character because she works hard and finds creative solutions to problems, while also accepting that sometimes things inevitably go wrong – and when things went wrong, Liz Lemon’s persistence and passion kept her moving forward.

Kristina Prysyazhnyuk-Goncu was born in the Ukraine, raised in Hungary and moved to the U.S. to attend Cardozo School of Law. This summer, she is interning for the Legal Department, and her favorite concert was seeing the Spice Girls in Vienna.

Shelby Klein is from Moorestown, New Jersey, and is a rising senior at the University of Delaware. She is pursuing a major in Economics with minors in Applied Music, Music Management, and Data Analytics, and is an intern for Music Services. Shelby says she is most like April Ludgate from Parks and Recreation, and people occasionally compare her to that character.

Arturo Ruiz is from Morristown, New Jersey, and is a journalism major at Emerson College. He is interning with the Multiplatform Initiatives Chasing the Dream and Peril and Promise teams. Arturo has never been to a concert and he says he is most like Nemo from Finding Nemo because they both love adventures.

Mirish Shah is from Toms River, New Jersey, but was born in Botswana and is a third-year law student at Georgetown Law. He did his undergrad at the University of Maryland and majored in Government and Politics. He also has a Master’s Degree from Maryland in Public Policy and is working in the Legal Department. He said he is most like Eric “E” Murphy from Entourage. Eric is hard working and always loyal to his movie star friend, Vince Chase, and Mirish would like to think he’s hard working and loyal, as well.

Janey Woo is from Mahwah, New Jersey, and will be a senior at Bucknell University, where she is an education major and a social justice minor. She is in the Kids’ Media and Education Department and her favorite concert is Coldplay, though in 2013, she definitely would have declared Justin Bieber her favorite.

Silver Zhang was born in Shanghai, China, and raised in Connecticut. She went to Columbia for her undergrad and is going into her second year at Columbia Law. She is an intern in the Legal Department, and her favorite concert to attend was Kimbra in Montreal.
