Meet Our Summer 2019 Interns, Part 1

Welcome to WNET’s 2019 Summer Intern Spotlights, the first in a series of group interviews highlighting our interns and the work they are doing at WNET, WLIW, and NJTV. Here they tell us a bit about themselves, including the fictional character they are most like and their favorite concert experience, in honor of WNET’s Summer of ‘69 specials and the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. We hope you enjoy learning about our wonderful interns in these interviews conducted by Gabriella Vetrano, the Marketing and Audience Engagement Department’s summer intern.

Ethan Brown is from Bethel, Connecticut, and is a rising junior at Boston University. He is pursuing a dual degree in Film & Television and Environmental Analysis & Policy and is currently an intern for Multiplatform Initiatives. Ethan says he is most like Ben Wyatt from Parks and Recreation because they are both hardworking, empathetic, and when he feels passionate about something, he puts all of his energy into it.

Julia Frankel is from Park Slope, Brooklyn, and is a rising sophomore at Pomona College in Claremont, California. She hasn’t decided on a major, but is considering pursuing a double major in Politics and English. She’s currently an intern for PBS NewsHour Weekend and recently went to see Courtney Barnett and The National at Celebrate Brooklyn in Prospect Park.

Rachel Janfaza is from Boston, Massachusetts, and is a rising senior at Harvard College. She is a Government major with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and is interning for Kids’ Media and Education. When asked about her favorite concert in honor of Woodstock’s 50th Anniversary, she said it was an Avicii concert she attended in 2014.

Jess Koernig is from Miami, Florida, and is a rising junior at New York University. She is majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Social and Cultural Analysis, and is an intern for PBS NewsHour Weekend. Jess is most like Kim Possible from the Disney Channel series and movie because they like to help people, they’re both athletic and are both loyal friends.

Kaitlyn Meehan is from West Caldwell, New Jersey, and is a rising senior at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. She is a history major and is currently interning for American Masters. Her favorite concert experience was seeing the Jonas Brothers.

Jojo Rinehart-Jones is from Harlem, New York, and is a rising senior attending Hamilton College. She majoring in Literature and Theatre, and is an American Masters intern. This past February, she saw Death Cab for Cutie at the O2 in Glasgow and they ended up knocking her socks off.

Jake Zaslav is from Richmond, Virginia, and is a rising senior at Tufts University. He is studying Music and Political Science, and works with the production team in the Kids’ Media and Entertainment Department. Jake says he is most like Air Bud, the basketball playing Golden Retriever from the movie of the same name, except he can’t play basketball very well.

Arielle Zrihen is from Lawrence, New York, on Long Island and is a rising junior at Hunter College. She is a film major and works in the Kids’ Media and Education Department. She is most like Liz Lemon from 30 Rock because they’ve got a similarly strange sense of humor and she’s a total comedy nerd.
