Kids THIRTEEN Relaunches as THIRTEEN PBSKids

WNET announced that beginning on January 16, 2017, Kids THIRTEEN will have a new name – THIRTEEN PBSKids. The 24/7 kids channel will also now offer a live stream, making it easier for Tri-State area children to watch their favorite PBS Kids series during primetime and other after-school hours when viewing among families is high. THIRTEEN PBSKids will feature the same high-quality children’s programs as before, but there may be some schedule changes, so check www.kids.thirteen.org for the new lineup.

Viewers will be able to watch the THIRTEEN PBSKids live stream through pbskids.org and on the PBS Kids Video App, which is available on a variety of mobile devices, tablets and over-the-top platforms including Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Xbox One and Chromecast. The live stream complements on-demand clips and full episodes, which will continue to be available for free on the PBS Kids Video App and streaming via pbskids.org.

Following the initial launch of THIRTEEN PBSKids, the live stream experience will expand to offer an integrated games feature, enabling children to toggle between a PBS Kids show and an activity that extends learning – all in one seamless digital experience. The live stream and games feature is grounded in research demonstrating that measurable gains in learning are achieved when children engage with PBS Kids content on multiple platforms. The games will align with the learning goals of each TV series, deepening children’s involvement and supporting learning.

“THIRTEEN has a longstanding tradition as a provider of content and services that parents trust,” said Neal Shapiro, President & CEO of WNET. “Connecting kids to our content, whenever and wherever they access media, is an important part of our long-term strategy to extend our commitment and impact on early learning.”

The newly named THIRTEEN PBSKids channel will continue to include favorites such as Cyberchase, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Odd Squad, Wild Kratts, Dinosaur Train and recent additions including Nature Cat, Ready Jet Go! and Splash And Bubbles.

The 24/7 THIRTEEN PBS Kids channel is in addition to THIRTEEN’s primary channel, which will continue to feature a PBS Kids day part. The schedule of children’s programming on THIRTEEN will be different from THIRTEEN PBSKids, offering families a variety of options.
