AIDS, HIV, & Other Microbe Matters
Students conduct inquiry-based research for basic information about microbes, infections, and HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. After gathering answers to their questions, students develop a presentation to post on their school's Web site, compile in a magazine, or display as a mural in school. To commemorate people who have lost their lives to AIDS, students can contribute their work to the Names Project AIDS Quilt.

Learning Objectives
Students will be able to:
- Explain the connection between microbes and infection.
- Brainstorm and answer research questions about HIV and AIDS.
- Research information on how HIV is transmitted and treated.
- Create a memorial for individuals who have died from AIDS.
Use of Internet: Students use the Internet to conduct Web research, engage in interactive challenges and activities to gain knowledge about infection, and publish their thoughts and ideas online.
