Thirteen/WNET's Ready To Learn service provides parents, teachers and caregivers in New York's Tri-state area with public television resources that help children develop a lifelong love of learning. Thirteen builds partnerships with community organizations, childcare networks, schools, libraries, and government agencies.

To extend the educational impact of our award-winning PBS KIDS programs "beyond the screen," Thirteen:
- Broadcasts 8.5 hours of children's educational programming each weekday.
- Delivers educational messages between programs that build learning and social skills.
- Conducts workshops for parents and early childhood educators. The workshops take many forms. The core goals are:
- to explain the curriculum behind PBS KIDS programs
- to provide examples of how to extend the learning in the programs
- to stress the importance of adult-child television co-viewing, and
- to introduce ideas of media literacy and critical viewing.
- Distributes at least 300 free books to children every month.
- Widely distributes the PBS Families publication in English and Spanish, as well as other free resources that support children's learning.
- Partners with local organizations to more effectively respond to community needs and provide services as widely as possible.
