Pre-K for All

  • LANGUAGE:

Tips & Facts

Pre-K programs help children develop and strengthen their language, cognitive and physical skills. Preschool programs have been shown to help children improve their language, reading, and math skills

Quality preschool programs can also help children build social skills, such as getting along with others, sharing, and listening.

Pre-K programs help children prepare for and succeed in kindergarten, as well as develop skills to help them succeed in high school and beyond.

Every district in NYC has a free full-day high quality pre-k program available for all 4-year olds.

Almost 80% of a child’s brain develops before age 5.

You can apply online at nyc.gov/prek, by calling 311, or at DOE Family Welcome Centers.
