Thomas & Friends Roll into the Newark Museum | June 13

The 3rd annual Family Preschool Night at the Newark Museum welcomed 885 local preschool families (roughly 2,500 parents and children) as they discovered fun, new ways of supporting summer learning at home. This represents a  20% increase in event attendance from the previous two years, and Newark Public Schools attributes much of that increase to the presence of WNET Education (and Thomas & Friends™)!

In addition to Newark Public School teacher demonstration tables and community organizations distributing books and learning materials, WNET Education staff greeted eager crowds of Thomas & Friends™ fans and distributed over 600 PBS Kids “Big Summer Activity Booklets” and Thomas & Friends activity worksheets to engaged parents, as well as thousands of stickers, pencils, books, and bookmarks to delighted preschoolers throughout the event.

Perhaps the highlight of the night for families was the opportunity for children to meet Thomas the Tank Engineup close and personally; over 400 were able to take pictures with everyone’s favorite No. 1 blue engine!
