Schama Shines at the Kraft Center | June 10

On Tuesday June 10th, WNET Education hosted over 100 educators, community members, and students at The Kraft Center for Jewish Student Life next to Columbia University in New York City for An Evening with Simon Schama. The evening, in support of the recently-aired series The Story of the Jews, was hosted in partnership with The Jewish Education Project, began with welcoming remarks from Carole Wacey, Vice President of Education, WNET and Bob Sherman, CEO of The Jewish Education Project.

The event featured an overview of the 5-part documentary and a presentation by the Education Department’s Amanda Granger on the vast educational resources related to the series.  The evening concluded with Simon Schama taking the stage and captivating the audience with stories about his journey in creating The Story of the Jews.

All attendees left with a copy of the series DVD and three lucky winners won a copy of the companion book, The Story of the Jews: Finding the Words (1000 BCE – 1492) signed by Simon Schama himself.
