Mission US Wins Game Award For “Most Significant Impact”!
Mission US: A Cheyenne Odyssey, the third installment in Mission US, the free online multimedia role playing game series that immerses players in U.S. history content, has just won the award for “Most Significant Impact” at the 11th Annual Games for Change Festival!
There were 140 games in competition, and three received awards. The award honors games targeted most successfully at a specific social issue, with proven actions and/or outcomes.
In Mission 3: A Cheyenne Odyssey, players become Little Fox, a Northern Cheyenne boy whose life is changed by the encroachment of white settlers, railroads, and U.S. military expeditions. As buffalo diminish and the U.S. expands westward, players experience the Cheyenne’s persistence through conflict and national transformation. The missions require critical thinking and attention to detail as players make choices and must face the consequences of those decisions.
The Games for Change Festival is New York City’s largest gaming event. Founded in 2004, Games for Change facilitates the creation and distribution of social impact games.
