Topic Description: Many mangers feel that if they have a problem with an employee's performance that they have failed. Others fear or feel that by talking to someone in human resources that they are turning the employee in and that the employee will lose their job. Managers can "enable" employees by putting off performance conferences. By giving employees bonuses or increases right along with other employees who are actually doing a better job at the time. They are vulnerable to the manipulations of the disease. One of the most common affects on people close to an addict is having a "high tolerance for unacceptable behavior". Gradually things you would never thought would be permitted are like sleeping at work, extended lunch hours and intoxication.
