Pinning down the actual motives of these groups is a bit
difficult but at this point it is safe to say the following. The core constituancy for legalization is drug users. Those who claim not to be users seem to be engaged in some sort of bitter crusade to right a percievd wrong. I certainly don't mind if you express your own thoughts about something, but please don't speak for *me*; please don't presume to know my motives. That's no way to have an open discussion. Why can't you accept various motives that people present? Listening doesn't mean agreeing, but it does mean having a clearer, more humane understanding of the various thoughts and positions out there. And why all caps? Why are you screaming in print? Would you scream at me if we were face to face? And why *so many* entries? Can't you be satisfied with stating your position, and letting that stand for itself? I thought I was going to find a varied discussion on one of the topics above that had such a huge number of entries, which of course was not the case. Now I'm concerned that others will not approach the issue with whatever is on their mind because newcomers will be inundated and desensitized by what occurred there. That too is no way to have a humane, thoughtful, creative, encouraging discussion that many will want to enter into--who will want to enter not concerned about being shouted down or spoken for, but eager to listen and be listened to... --Meg
