It is at: www.wsoinc.com(this is the Narcotics Anonymous site). They also have chat areas on the M IRC area. Yes, you can go to a meeting online! As for totally coming out, the word Anonymous means people can come to meetings and remain no known for their protection. Not all employers are open-minded, nor are all relatives, etc. Society has already attached a label and much stigma to this disease, so many people also fear repriasal from other for what has happened in the past, and until they are ready to make amends and face up to what they have done, they need to be anonymous. Responsibility for ones past actions does not come overnite. If you are angry at someone who is an addict, how will you take it out on them? They already feel guilty, degraded, low self-esteem, and washed-out. Now they have to face the wrath of others for their disease? By the way, what if it was a "health professional"? Might they not loose their job? These people need help and understanding, not flaming mad reprisal. As for coming out of the closet, many addicts go to places like jails, institutions, schools,Etc. when they are ready, and speak of their addiction to others in hope of encouraging others to stop. We try to provide a safe atmosphere to do so when they get to our doors, so many are in such rough shape when they come in you cannot possibly imagine, unless you have been there. Like the prodigal son coming home, we must throw our arms around them and give help and love. | |
