Topic: Drug War Lost Before It Began...

Topic Posted by: Byron dillon (byjo@ctaz.com )

Topic Description: As a teenager during Prohibition, it was obvious to this writer the War against Drug use was lost before it began. I recall during Prohibition same pblms. as now. Nothing worked since in a free open society people who want drugs will get them any way, any cost. During Prohibition drug of choice: ethanol, alcohol in any form. People wanted it would do anything to get it, etc. Same old pblms. now as then except we learned NOTHING from history. We must change our strategy.

Subject: If we learn anything from history...
Message:
If we learn anything from history, it's that we don't
learn anything from history. If drug prohbition weren't
destroying our society it would be amusing, because all
that we're seeing today happened before in the 1920s.
The corrupt cops, the gang murders, the deaths from
impure drugs, and most of all the pathetic belief that
"If we just try harder, we can get this to work."

www.druglibrary.org has a good section on the follies of
alcohol prohibition.
