Subject: It's been a long road
Message:
I am a 28 year old recovering drug addict and alcoholic. I just want to say that there is help out there for anyone who wants it. I went into treatment 4 years ago after I came to the realization that something was really wrong with my life. I had been told a few years earlier to stop drinking due to my having drug induced seizures. I stopped drinking but went on what I call "The Marijuana Maintenance Program." I lived this way for a few years until I just gave up. I quit leaving the house and was smoking 15-20 joints a day. I was a mess. But I found a treatment center that was willing to help me. After all this time, things are getting better. I'm a better father and I now work as a counselor for people who are addicts and alcoholics and are also suffering from mental illness. I owe this all to the open arms and fellowship I was shown at the treatment center and meetings I went to. If I can make it anyone can, if they want to!
