I have been watching Bill Moyers series on addiction. How wonderful that so many people can learn about the disease of addiction. My addiction is alcohol, and for 45 years I have chased that high I experienced before I crossed the line. It has taken me to prison twice, through 3 wives, three children - and now at 59 years old, I have cirrohsis. I've been to many detoxes, rehabs, even mental institutions. I have been trying to get sober in AA for nineteen years! I now have about 100 days since my last drunk and rehab. I pray everyday that this is the last time. But you know, it's really in God's hands. That is why I believe today that "spirituality" (a real connection and sense of a Higher Power), doing the next right thing, and following the 12 steps of AA - is the only way this drunk can stay sober. I have learned many hard lessons in my life, I think the best one is not to live in the past or the future. For we are guaranteed nothing but today. Live it well and DDGTM. Larry G.
