Absolutely!! Relapse is part of recovery. We may not like the fact that it is, but it happens. Each time relapse occurs, the recovering addict has the chance to learn something about their addiction. Whether they do or not is up to them. Hopefully the ones who finally make it to abstainence will have discovered what it is that makes them an addict. That is the only way NOT to be one any more. It's their choice, but if they have the chance to go through as many recoveries as they need, then it will have been worth it. The ones who don't make it, DIE. How can we, as fellow humans become judges of who has had enough chances at recovery?
