Subject: Successful Treatment
Message:
As a person in recovery and a Human Resources professional, I believe successful recovery happens when an individual who wants to stop using and effective, caring treatment come together at the same time. I have seen people "forced" into treatment by workplace policies and that usually seems ineffective. My experience is that the person has to want it, otherwise all the "treatment" in the world may not help. Even though I have seen this over and over again, my own sense of humanity compells me, through my profession, to refer people who certainly appear unready for treatment into our Employee Assistance Program in the hopes that something will sink in and reach them.
