The explaxnation below the topic, e.g. "The Chosen"
You wrote, "What does it mean to be chosen by God?"
The ancient Israelis would like to think so but all are children of God.
And, "Were Abraham and Sarah both chosen, or only Abraham?"
Why wouldn't they have been. Can a man begat a child without a woman?
"If someone is chosen, does it necessarily mean that others are "unchosen"?"
Why was the seed of Abraham "chosen." What was the result of their being chosen? I'll give you a hint! It
was a covenant!
What is a covenant?
Is and can a covenant be made with one party?
If one party breaks the covenant, is the covenant still in force?

NOTE: Amor gignit amorem (Love begats love). Remember, whether your God is an entity; a personage; a
spirit; omniscient; omnipresent; objectivity, enlightenment, intelligence or a concept, God is Love and
Satan is hate!
Love and sex, while one can enhance the other, they mutually exclusive and come in a variety of forms
and fashions the beauty and morality, of which depends upon its expression.
Man can be assured his God was created in his own image when his God hates the same people he does.
Is anyone so absolutely positive that their beliefs are in fact true, void of any clearly definable proof
to the contrary, that after being able to exercise their God given right to freely make a choice, they
would condemn someone else for making a different choice? Such is the Plan of Satan!

Most if not all tribal societies believe themselves to be "chosen" in some sense. Most native Americans thought of themselves as uniquely blessed. The interesting aspect to for me about the Jews and "chosenness" is how this idea became a morally progressive idea in the Bible. Most monotheistic religions hold that non-believers are less in the eyes of God. The story of Jonah makes it quite clear that God does not require people to become Jews to be good people they must become good people to become a good people. The seperation of goodness from religion was accomplished by the Jews thousands of years ago. We have yet to make that radical seperation in todays monotheistic religions
