Quite literally the word translated"image" means shadow.We are shadows of an Extra-Dimensional Super Intelligence.
It means we are something like Him But without the power or exterior effectiveness of the Overmind.
We can Love, and hate and fight and cherish, but we can never love everything that ever was or will be.
We are reflections or images of the Originator, but we are all the more so when we try to be like Him.
even as children are the image of their parents That is in truth what it mean to be in His Image.
It also means that we fall under His shadow of protection.

As a graduate psychology student I understand "In God's
Image" neuropsychologically. All animals have what Luria (a
neuropsychologist) termed the first and second functional
units. That is, the awake/asleep switch, and the
interconnections between different functional regions (sight,
hearing, motor, etc) of the brain, respectevly. Nevertheless,
only humans have the third functional unit. This unit is in
charge of integration, decisions, structured and planned
thought.It has been described as discursive because, being
integrative, it uses the biography (discourse) that we have
elsewhere in the brain to guide the integrative, structured,
planned tasks mencioned and evaluate them.God has always been
discursive (He love stories).Let alone, He has always been
planned,structured and evaluative ("and He saw it was good").
This is what he gave to human beings. The first thing He did
was to delegate-share tasks with us (take care of Creation).
When our collective brain was ready, He sent us the Verb.
Through His Word He intended cognitive reinterpretations to
make us freer. A way to change or reinterpret our biography.
I think its great we are going back to basics and saying:
"This biblical story really helps". Our brain has been asking
to process the story which it was designed to for too long.
Part of my brain, the language part, is also striving. Its
2:10 am and English is my second language. Sorry for the
akward sentence structure:) Im having trouble understanding
myself. Bye.

Man created in God's image means that he was without sin. God placed the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the garden with man and told him he must not eat of it. Not disobeying was man's opportunity to praise his creator. When he disobeyed and ate of it, he did not become more like God by gaining more knowledge. He lost the pure image of God and gained the knowledge of evil, which he had not known previously. God said he would surely die if he ate of it, and we all do die, as Adam did, because of that sin.
