I am posting this in response to Ms. Erickson's question about the New Hampshire TV schedule. I tried to e-mail you twice, but both times the message was returned as undeliverable. Unfortunately, I have no additional information about the programming schedule of the NH public TV station -- each station makes its own programming decisions. However, I encourage you to call the station at 603-868-1100 and find out if they are planning to run BEFORE I DIE and when. If they aren't, it's important for them to know that viewers are interested -- they may decide to run it if there is interest in the topic. In meantime, you may obtain the videotape -- information about ordering it can be found here on the BEFORE I DIE web site in the Outreach Efforts and Materials section. The URL of the page itself is http://www.wnet.org/bid/p-tapes.html (all lowercase).

Before I Die was a very interesting and thought provoking program. It addressed many of the real dilemmas that exist in the area of death and the dying. Unfortunately, there are few easy answers. But, I believe programs like this will help begin the process of educating the public to the issues and the roles they must be prepared for -- being a patient or family member of a patient who is facing death. My family and I watched my father die after tough end of life decisions were made. I was grateful for the information background I had been given as a hospital Ethics Committee member. Being informed of the possible issues and thinking about them ahead of time made the situation seem more normal and acceptable.

I've pored over the TV listings for this program. I live in NH and the only PBS station that I get is the NH PBS affiliate. Unfortunately, the Durham PBS does not seem to be offering Before I Die. This is surprising as the station has been receptive & supportive of hospice and similiar issues in the past. If NH PBS plans on airing Before I Die, please send an e-mail to me citing the date & time. Is there the possibility that a video will be possible at some time? I would be interested in that also. Thanks & keep up the great work.je
