Dear Buckminster Fuller Experts
I'm trying to track down an accurate source for the believed BF quote...
"A vision of the future is focused with an eye on the past"
I'm sure I found it at...<< http:// www.wirelessmultimedia.com/idols >> but that site is
no longer is valid.
I have quoted the 'quote' in my PhD thesis draft but lost the source for the final
version which I'm now preparing.
Q: did he actually say this?
Q: might someone know the original source of the quote, a book, paper, etc.,
Hoping you can help - I have spent ages trying to find the quote on every 'Bucky'
site this side of Mars.
A personal eMail response would be much appreciated.
Thankyou

Met Bucky in April 1983, a few months before his death. Had never heard of him til then. He spoke at Cal. State Long Beach at a presentation I helped organize...my "crew" told me he was awesome...and he was! Our topic for him was "Integrity in Action" and the quote I have for you is now the one I live by: In the end "Only integrity is going to count." Seems to me, the integrity of our planet and ourselves IS all that will count. When you and I are gone all that is left is the integrity of who we were and what we left behind.

I am certain that none of the world's problems have any
hope of solution except through all of the world's
individuals becoming thoroughly and comprehensively
self-educated. Only then will society be able to identify,
and inter-communicate, the vital problems of total world
society. Only then may humanity effectively sort out and
put those problems into an order of importance for
solutions that will work for all life on Earth.

I saw this Bucky-ism on Daniel Quinn's "Ishmael" home page, and used it on my address block for a while. Maybe someone can tell me its origin."You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete."
