In March, '98 `High-Exposure', a performance art rock climbing collective in Toronto, created a piece called `Tensegrity', using tensegrity principles to create a variety of live spatial events. Peter Penev, our tensegrity expert, constructed a miniature tensegrity ball out of which a dancer `birthed' to open the show, which also featured an aerial human web comprised of suspended climbers webbed into each other to create a tension mesh on which another performer could be carried and thrown up and down. The performance featured live musicians including one who played guitar suspended upside-down. For more info I think Peter has a website for `High-Xposure' or `High-X' with some video footage of previous performances. Posted by: Will Black (box2321@teleport.com)

I manufacture 3 Geodesic Kites. The Geo-Kite, Icosa Kite and the Tetra Kite. Yes they all fly. The Geo is a 2 frequency sphere about 32 inches in diameter. Polypropalene straws and nylon connectors. Give me a ring or email. I am still working on a web site. Keith A. Reinemann bpkites@dwave.net

I am currently doing some experimentation utilizing geodesic spheres in the filed of aircraft. I believe that there is no upper limit to the size of efficient aircraft possible utilizing geodesics, and the bigger it gets, the more efficient it gets. I don't believe that can really be said about current aircraft designs to a great degree. One of the things my concepts would eliminate is the need for a runway for a very large aircraft. Yes, it would still need a place to land. Considering the extreme forces involved, a paved surface would be desirable to avoid sandblasting any nearby people or structures. This craft would be capable of extremely large volume/weight cargo in a smaller piece of real estate than current aircraft. This aircraft should also have better manueverability than the best helicoper, no matter what the size (could make for an interesting ride, especially on a very large one!) and I think it could be quiet, using the correct engine technology. There are quite a few details I stil need to work out, but the environmentalists would be happy to see something that could use the minimum amount of airport space and make the least amount of noise pollution. Anyone near a large airport would be eternally grateful as well, since there would not be the need for anything to fly low over their house, either to take off or land. People wouldn't be so unhappy about having the airport so close, and would be more likely to welcome it.
