I don’t believe that it could be too hard to convince the public to opt for beautiful, efficient homes for the price of a car. In fact, I think that if and when Fuller homes are commercially available, nearly everyone will live in one. Why then aren’t Fuller’s designs being used residentially? The answer lies in the ironic fact that the people who have been elected or appointed to promote the so called "common good" will not permit unconventional structures to be built. The reason you don’t see geodesic domes everywhere is because zoning boards will not allow it. For the sake of the exercise, call up your local zoning board and just try to get a building permit for a dome! The truth is that too much property tax is at stake for local governments to allow the deflation in home prices that wide spread use of Fuller homes would cause. All it would take to make dome homes available to all of humanity is across the boards deregulation of zoning laws. Convincing the public really isn’t the problem. Stagnate laws mandated by incompetent officials is the problem.
