“NJTV News” Anchor Joins Panel of Powerful Women in South Jersey

This week, NJTV News Anchor Mary Alice Williams was one of four power-panelists at the Women’s Empowerment speaker series hosted by SJ Magazine.

Moderated by Marianne Aleardi (host of NJTV’s This Is South Jersey series), Williams was joined by Susan Bass Levin, President/CEO of The Cooper Foundation (at Cooper University Health Care); Karen Buck, head of commercial, retail and commercial operations for TD Bank; and Leslie Anderson, Executive Director of the NJ Redevelopment Authority, in discussion about the challenges of female executives in a business world often dominated by men. Topics discussed included secrets of success, juggling work/life balance, team building, managing work relationships and handling success and failure.

According to Williams, “success is a team sport,” and a leader is only as powerful as the empowerment he or she gives her colleagues. Levin quipped that there is, “no crying in baseball, government or business.” And when it comes with dealing with setbacks along the way of your career, Williams assured that, “you don’t learn from constant success.” Anderson added, “you never know where failure will take you.”

About 120 attendees filled the room at the Mansion in Voorhees for the hour-long panel discussion, which included a pre-event networking reception.
