“Mission US” Launches “Up From The Dust,” First Mission for Tablet
Mission US has launched Up from the Dust, the fifth installment in the award-winning series of digital role-playing games for middle and high school students. In the latest game, players step into the roles of Ginny and Frank Dunn, 13-year-old twins looking to support their family during the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. This Emmy-nominated mission is the first game in the series to be available on mobile tablet through the iTunes App Store.
Designed for use by students in grades 5-9, the Mission US games have nearly 1.9 million registered users in all fifty states, including almost 70,000 teachers. As with other games in the series, Up from the Dust includes a collection of educator-developed resources, including primary sources, class activities, vocabulary builders, standards alignments, and writing prompts.
The app and web game was funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s institute of Education Sciences (IES) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) fund.
