Meet Our Summer 2017 Interns (Part 1)

Welcome to WNET’s 2017 Intern Spotlight, the first in a series of three group interviews. Our interns hail from various departments across WNET, and we’ve asked them to tell us a little about themselves. They were asked a few questions, including, “What’s an interesting fact about you?” Read on to learn about our amazing interns!

Meet Our Summer Interns: (Top, L-R): Jenna Gray, Brittany Groveman, Rose Paisner, Alessandra Caruso. (Bottom, L-R): Paige Leskin, Matt Kaufman, Julia Balm.

Paige Leskin, 21, interns for the Education Department. She attends Northwestern University as a double major in Journalism and Political Science. Her favorite place in the world is London, and her favorite food is tacos.

Interesting Fact: “I peaked at 3 years old, when I was interviewed on TV at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.”

Matt Kaufman, 21, interns for the Photography Department. He attends West Virginia University as a Marketing major. His favorite place in the world is Italy, and his favorite food is bacon.

Interesting Fact: “I love computers and cars.”

Julia Balm, 20, interns for the Great Performances/NYC-ARTS Department. She attends the University of Toronto, majoring in History with a focus in Art History & Creative Expression in Society. Her favorite place in the world is to be at the ballet, and her favorite food is poutine.

Interesting Fact: “I am cursed with the inability to whistle or wink.”

Jenna Gray, 20, interns for PBS NewsHour Weekend Department. She attends Harvard University as a double major in Sociology and Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality. Her favorite place in the world is downtown Philadelphia and her favorite food is sweet potato fries.

Interesting Fact: “I do a great impression of Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb.

Brittany Groveman, 20, interns for the Children’s and Educational Media Department. She attends Vanderbilt University as a Human & Organizational Development major and a Special Education minor. Her favorite place in the whole world is her house, and her favorite food is pizza.

Interesting Fact: “I have Celiac Disease, so I’m gluten free.”

Rose Paisner, 21, Interns for the Children’s and Educational Media Department. She attends Tufts University as a Child Study and Human Development major. Her favorite place in the world is Barcelona, Spain and her favorite food is mac & cheese.

Interesting Fact: “I’m afraid of squirrels.”

Alessandra Caruso, 20, interns for the American Masters Department. She attends Northwestern University as an English Lit major. Her favorite place in the world is California and her favorite food is peanut butter.

Interesting Fact: “I have three nephews.”
