“Cyberchase” Wins Environmental Media Award at Star-Studded Gala in LA

This past weekend, Environmental Media Association honored Cyberchase with a prestigious Environmental Media Award for Children’s Television at a star-studded awards gala on the Warner Brothers Studio lot in Los Angeles. The episode “Bottled Up” – about reduction of plastic water bottle use – was honored for its message of conservation and activism.

The event, hosted by Nicole Ritchie and honoring Shailene Woodley, Moby, Jaden Smith and others, drew Hollywood celebrities and environmentalists from Will Smith to Van Jones, Lance Bass, Wendie Malick, Malin Ackerman, Ed Begley, Jr., and many more. During Producer Kristin DiQuollo’s acceptance speech, all attendees were able to hear about WNET’s ‘media with impact’ mission and Cyberchase’s work to inspire kids to become problem-solvers and stewards of a healthy planet. Cyberchase star Bianca DeGroat (pictured above left, with Kristin) was also in attendance.

A 360 livestream from the event is available for replay on YouTube.

The EMA Awards honor film and television productions and individuals that increase public awareness of environmental issues and inspire personal action on these issues. Since 1991, the EMA Awards has been the only program solely devoted to celebrating the entertainment industry’s environmental efforts.

The Environmental Media Association, sponsor of the awards, believes that through television, film and music, the entertainment community has the power to influence the environmental awareness of millions of people. EMA was founded in 1989 by Cindy and Alan Horn and Lyn and Norman Lear.

People, Access Hollywood, ET Online, E!, Hollywood Reporter, Just Jared and more have posted photos and recaps from the event.
