Joshua C. Nathan
Vice President, Business Development and Institutional Strategy

 

 

Josh Nathan is Vice President of Business Development and Institutional Strategy for WNET.ORG.  He is a member of the senior management team and oversees staff responsible for developing business ventures, negotiating licensing and co-production deals, distribution, corporate strategy, audience and market research, and communications, branding and marketing.

 

Nathan joined WNET.ORG in 2008, heading business affairs and strategic initiatives and served as general counsel and secretary. Nathan came to the organization in 1997 through its subsidiary Educational Broadcasting Corporation where, in 2004, he was named Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. His television work includes: the television history documentary NYTV: By the People Who Made It (Executive Producer) for which Nathan received two New York Emmy Awards; the Emmy-nominated cultural adventure documentary In the Footsteps of Marco Polo (Executive Producer); the parenting series Real Moms, Real Savvy (Executive in Charge); and the national, contemporary music series, Live From the Artists Den (Executive in Charge).

 

From 1991 to 1997, Nathan was associated with Rosenman & Colin LLP in New York City (now KM Rosenman) where he represented clients primarily in business litigation and handled arts related matters, including pro-bono cases for Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.

 

He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey and is a member of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York where he has served on the Committee on Copyright and Literary Property and the Committee on Art Law.

 

He earned his J.D. degree from Cornell Law School (1991) and his A.B. degree from Vassar College (cum laude in Art History, 1988). He also attended University College London (Full Course Affiliate Study, History of Art, 1987). Nathan studied fine art and design with the late Vita Jaspan, Marshall Glazer and Joseph Stapleton.

 

Nathan was born in Manhattan in 1965 and grew up in Tenafly, New Jersey. He lives with his wife and son in Rye, New York where he currently serves as President of the Rye City School District Board of Education. He and his family are avid sailors.
