Project Description
Need to Know is a new current affairs media project from WNET.ORG, the leading provider of news, current affairs and documentary content for public television. Premiering in the spring of 2010, it will combine a major 24/7 online platform and a weekly, one-hour primetime television broadcast, in magazine format, each Friday evening.
Description of Duties
The PA/Researcher will support the production of content for both the online and broadcast platforms. He/she will work closely with the editorial team at all stages of the production process from story development through post-production. Responsibilities and tasks will include, but are not limited to, researching stories; organizing shoots; fact-checking scripts; searching for archival footage; developing and producing interactive features; posting video, audio, and text to the online platform, managing deliverables, maintaining production records; and may also include shooting and editing video and assisting in the preparation of segments for broadcast. In addition, he/she will liaise, as necessary, with various other departments, including publicity, production services, finance and legal.

Educational Requirements/Special Skills
- BS or BA in Liberal Arts.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in television or multimedia production.
- Minimum of two (2) years editorial experience in print, online or broadcast journalism.
- Exceptional research skills, written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Exceptional planning, organization, problem analysis and decision-making skills.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines and to problem-solve when difficulties arise.
Preferred Requirements
- Prior experience in production of daily or weekly news/public affairs program.
- Ability to shoot and edit video.(Final Cut Pro)
- Prior experience in archival research.
- Demonstrated interest in current affairs.
