Project Description
Need to Know is a new current affairs media project from WNET.ORG, the leading provider of news, current affairs and documentary content for public television. Premiering in the spring of 2010, it will combine a major 24/7 online platform and a weekly, one-hour primetime television broadcast, in magazine format, each Friday evening.
Description of Duties
The Community Coordinator will be responsible for finding new audiences online and using all social media tools available to acquire, retain and engage the audience.
Responsibilities include:
- Identify, cultivate, and engage a core set of bloggers as content distributors and site contributors.
- Raise awareness of the depth and breadth of the site and the program through social media marketing programs: plan the media, create the messages, launch and report on efforts with ROI analysis.
- Develop and manage all aspects of online audience interaction, including user comments, content submission, and crowd-sourcing initiatives.
- Monitor and report on key social media and community trends and metrics.
Skills required:
- 3+ years experience working in marketing, online marketing and social media.
- Experience and understanding of online community participation, social networking, blogging and other social media and Web 2.0 tools.
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to generate and analyze reports.
- Strong analytical and digital research skills with the ability to interpret results and make constructive recommendations.
- Leadership and organizational skills.
